Original Partiture
original partiture
I had already composed the credits theme previously, the one that the director choose as melody, which was going to appear at the final part of the short film, because itself sounded as a conclusion.
It was decided that the music was going to accompany and synchronize the image in retail.

The short film´s director gave me a reference that didn´t have assimilated yet, Joe Hisaishi, music Composer of the film “Gake on ue no Ponyo” (2008 – Dir: Hayao Miyzaki).
This Composer and director surprised me a lot, and there´s a theme that is still ringing in my head from the movie “Mimi wo Sumaseba” (2005 –Dir: Yoshifumi Kondo), where were shown both of the instruments that was going to finally have the rose: the piano and the clarinet.
Jose Hisaishi use many violins to give expressiveness, so they were also going to be part of the short film´s sound track.

The compose´s way for piano was also going to determinate the composition at the title following moment of the short film when the princess interact for the first time with the rose without comprehend it yet, or before the princess fall down tired next to the Rose.
For the rising of the rose also used as reference Claude Debussy.

The Princess character has a sweet and frenchly tinge, and that´s where came up the idea of adding the celesta and accordion, for which i took as reference Tchaikovski and Yann Tiersen.
The short film director needed that the celesta sound as a music box, and that all the composition were austere and little.

The history shows animated object, so i think that they should have a sound too, to intensify the idea that they had own life.
The dishes were going to have as instruments to the pizzicato of cello and violin, and the volcanoes going to have an a funny and rude air instrument, the tube, reinforced by the fiscorno.

This instruments were going to show issues at the mix moment for have so much presence, more considering that the Princess and the Rose were going to have each one 2 soloist instruments.
The major conflict, when the volcanoes draws attention of the princess and the planet get into flames, was also going to have it own sounds: violins, tremolo, contra-bass and kettledrum.
